Location: The project begins at Moores Mill Rd and Robinson Rd and ends at Countess Rd near McHenry Dr. The total project length is about 1/2 mile.

Project Description: This project is in conjunction with Madison County Public Works' project: Moores Mill Road and Countess Road Intersection Improvements. It includes clearing and grubbing the newly acquired right-of-way and the installation of 2400 ft of ductile-iron pipe to replace existing mains and move the pipe into the right-of-way. Customer water services will be transferred to the new main, once installed. Repairs to driveways, and landscaping will be completed as the project progresses and after the bulk of the water main installation is complete. There may be temporary impacts to traffic routing due to lane closures as the work progresses.

Project Timeline: The Water Main portion of the project is expected to begin in early 2025 and be completed by Summer 2025.

Need for Project: The current intersection has safety and operational problems due to its atypical geometry and limited sight distance. The existing water main would be under the new pavement causing potential issues during construction and future maintenance. By moving the water main into the new right-of-way, the Water Department can continue to provide quality water service to this area of Huntsville.
