Madison County will NEVER contact you by phone and ask for your bank information, including account or routing numbers.  We have been notified that some tax payers in other areas of the State have fallen victim to scam artists posing as County Tax Collector employees.  If you receive a call asking for this information, please hang up and call our office at 256-532-3370

The Last Day to Pay Property Taxes without Penalty is December 31.

The Madison County Collector is a countywide elected position that is currently held by Valerie Miles. Her hope is to provide Madison County taxpayers with a convenient and user-friendly alternative for paying for taxes.

It is my goal to serve the citizens of Madison County in a responsible and respectful way, while fulfilling our obligation to follow the statues of the State of Alabama.

Primary tax records are maintained and held for public use within the Collector’s Office.

As the tax collecting official for Madison, County, please accept this notice as a declaration of my intentions to conduct a Tax lien Auction and Sale for the collection of delinquent taxes for the year 2021 - 2022 forward. Title 40-10-180 ( c ) Code of Alabama requires that this notice be advertised once a week for three consecutive weeks, prior to October 1, 2021, in a newspaper with general circulation of said county, or the tax collecting official’s website.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to collect and disburse the ad valorem taxes for Madison County.  In addition to being responsible for the disbursements to all City and County Entities located within Madison County, our collection responsibilities include but are not limited to disbursements that support bridges, roads, and all school systems. By efficiently collecting the taxes due, Madison County can continue growing, as well as continuing to improve and maintain a high quality of life and services available for all.
