The Madison County Waste Control Department provides regular curbside garbage pick-up service to approximately 70,000 residential and business customers in Madison County, and routes all requests for trash collection (old furniture, appliances, tree limbs, etc.), to the proper District. Citizens with questions or problems related to garbage should call this office.

The Madison County Waste Control Department provides regular curbside garbage pick-up service to all Madison County residents who live outside the city limits of Huntsville.

SERVICE REQUESTS

 

GENERAL INFORMATION 

  • Only carts provided by Madison County will be serviced.
  • The monthly fee for weekly service is $13.50 per household.  An additional cart cost $5.00 per month.  Residents can request an additional cart here.
  • Place only food, paper products, and items you usually place in kitchen and bathroom containers in the automated cart. No yard waste.
  • We Do Not Service items such as grass, leaves, building material, metal scrap, paint, hazardous chemical, such as acids or pool chemicals, oil, dirt, rocks, wood, furniture, ashes, sawdust, carpet and pad, dead animals, human or animal waste, tires, and etc.
  • All garbage must be bagged and placed inside county provided container to prevent spillage and wind scattering it.
  • Place your cart at the curb before 6:00 AM on collection day with arrows pointing toward roadway.
  • Carts should be on flat level surface within 2 feet of the roadside and a minimum of 3 feet from any object (mailbox, vehicles, recycling bins, telephone poles, other carts etc.).
  • Automated Carts containing non–household items will not be serviced.
  • Trucks will not return to collect carts that are placed out late, blocked, too close to obstructions, or contains non-household items.
  • Drivers are not responsible for the clean-up of spillage that is a result of overfilled carts or garbage not being bagged.
  • To control odor, rinse out your cart with water and cleaners such as ammonia or Lysol when needed.
  • Residents should remove cart from the roadside in a timely manner.

  • If you move, please leave the cart at the present location.

 

CURBSIDE GARBAGE PICK-UP FOR YARD DEBRIS AND LARGE ITEMS

Madison County Commission Districts provide regular yard debris pick-up service to county residents.  The charge is $3.00 per month for this service.

  • If you live in the city limits of Huntsville, please call Huntsville Sanitation Department at 256-883-3964 regarding large debris pick-up.
  • If you live in the city limits of Madison, please call Madison Public Works Department at 256-772-8490 regarding large debris pick-up.

Take bulky items such as shingles, construction debris and appliances to the Huntsville Landfill at 4100 Leeman Ferry Road or call 256-881-8700.

RECYCLING INFORMATION

Visit the Solid Waste Disposal Authority for additional information on recycling.

The Solid Waste Disposal Authority of the City of Huntsville manages a curbside recycling collection program, called Recycling Alliance of North Alabama (RANA).  In order to participate in this program and get a rolling recycling cart, residents must sign up on the RANA website. or call 256-801-2278 (CART).

This is a free service provided to all Madison County residents managed by RANA.
