Knowing basic water safety and swim strokes are skills which last a lifetime. We want you to have fun while acknowledging the importance of:

1.   attendance

2.   participation

3.   practice

Your success depends upon how well you listen to the instructors and practice your newly acquired skills.

Additionally, we want you to be prepared for each lesson and not have any distractions. For each lesson, please bring the following:

1.   Appropriate swim attire/swimsuit (no cut off shorts)

2.   A pair of swim goggles (please look for child/youth goggles - not masks)

3.   A towel for drying off

4.   A desire to have fun while learning the basics of swimming and water safety

Guidelines for Swim Lesson Placement:

Preschool (4 - 5 yrs)

Children with no fear of getting face wet and will jump from pool deck unassisted.

Projected outcome: Float and glide on front and back, push off wall with face in the water, kicking techniques, possible exploration of deep water.

Level I (over 5 yrs)

Children who have no prior swim lesson experience.  Children with no fear of getting face wet and will jump from pool deck unassisted.

Projected outcome: Enter/exit pool independently, learn basic water safety rules, learn to submerge, learn breathing, arm, and kicking techniques, float and glide on front and back unassisted.  Exploration of deep water.

Level II (over 5 yrs)

Children with no fear of water who have prior swim lesson experience and can float on front and back unassisted.

Projected outcome: Learn basic front crawl and back crawl, explore deep water, expand upon skills taught in Level I

Level III/IV (6 yrs & older)

Children with no fear of deep water and can swim 15 yards front crawl.

Projected outcome: Develop swimming skills, be able to tread water, dive from side of pool in kneeling position, alternate arm strokes while breathing to side

Level V/VI (6 yrs & older)

Children with no fear of deep water and can swim 25 yards front crawl.

Projected outcome: Develop front crawl and backstroke techniques, swim 25 yards front crawl, introduced to breaststroke and butterfly, learn to surface dive

All classes are group sessions.  Swimmers must not be afraid of water (large pool).  For swimmers with fear of water, you are encouraged to seek private instruction.

Ages and descriptions are to be used as a general guideline. Our Swim Instructors will work with you for proper placement of swimmer.

PLEASE NOTE: COMPLETION OF COURSE DOES NOT GUARANTEE MOVEMENT TO NEXT LEVEL.

Swim Instructor will determine matriculation to next level.
