Phase 1  - US Highway 72 to Douglass Road

Location: The project begins approximately 0.5 miles north of US-72 and ends at Douglass Road. The total project length is 2.7 miles.

Project Description: The project will widen Jeff Road from a 2-lane roadway to a 5-lane roadway with curb and gutter by adding a through lane in each direction and a continuous two-way left turn lane. Additionally, a 4-foot-wide bicycle lane and a 5-foot-wide sidewalk will be added to each side of the roadway.

Phase 2 - Douglass Road to US Highway 53

The project includes two sites. Site number 1 begins at Douglass Road and ends at Kelly Spring Road and site number 2 begins approximately 0.3 miles south of Highway 53 and ends approximately 0.2 miles north of Highway 53. The total project length is 1.5 miles.

Project Description: Site Number 1 (Jeff Road from Douglass Road to Kelly Spring Road) - the project will widen Jeff Road from a 2-lane roadway to a 5-lane roadway with curb and gutter by adding a through lane in each direction and a continuous two-way left turn lane. Additionally, a 4-foot-wide bicycle lane and a 5-foot-wide sidewalk will be added to each side of the roadway.

Site Number 2 (Jeff Road and Highway 53 intersection) – the project will widen Jeff Road to provide additional through lanes and turn lanes at the intersection with Highway 53.

Need for Project: Jeff Road experiences heavy traffic congestion during the morning and evening peak hours. This congestion is expected to worsen in the future if the capacity of Jeff Road is not increased.
