Community Development Block Grant Formal Amendment Public Hearing

Hearing will take place during Commission Meeting

The Madison County Commission will hold a public hearing at 10AM on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at the Madison County Courthouse located at 100 North Side Square, Huntsville, AL 35801 to discuss the County’s submission of a formal amendment to their Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-CV) project. The commission is holding the hearing to obtain citizens’ input on proposed project budget changes.

The commissions CDBG-CV project involves the current budget to reflect the move of $50,000.00 from the Health Services activity to the Food Distribution activity. This change comes due to the COVID numbers declining since the awarding of the funding. Therefore, the Health Department has concluded that federal funding for this manner of COVID prevention is no longer necessary. This amendment will then reflect on the budget by showing the Health Services activity with a Total Activity Cost of $0.00 and the Food Distribution activity showing an increase from $100,000.00 to $150,000.00. The commission understands the guidelines and regulations in formally making this change to the budget.

The commission is requesting this amendment as actual costs exceeded the available funds of the project. As such, the proposed amendment intends to correct the budget amounts and to allow for the successful completion and closeout of the project.
