The Historic Huntsville Foundation Madison County Historic Resource Survey

Using grant monies from the Alabama Historical Commission, Historic Huntsville Foundation funded a historic resources survey of unincorporated Madison County, Alabama in September 2013.  New South Associates was hired to conduct the three-week countywide survey which included the entire eastern half of the county and a small section of the northwest corner.

During this time approximately 435 square miles were traversed and 256 resources documented, which included residential, religious, agricultural, educational, and funerary properties dating from the early 1800s to the mid 1900s.

HHF Chairman Fred Coffey and Executive Director Donna Castellano presented commission members with copies of the survey at the April 21, 2015 Madison County Commission meeting.
