Phil Riddick, a Huntsville commercial real estate agent, was appointed by Governor Bob Riley on January 4, 2010 to serve as Madison County Commissioner of District Five that represents south Huntsville.

The Governor said in his statement that Riddick would do an outstanding job for the people of Madison County.

"He has the professional experience, the community involvement and the dedication to public service that make him the best choice for this important position," Riley said.

Riddick, 53, will serve the remaining two years of Mo Brooks' term who was elected to Congress in November 2010, resigned as Commissioner effective Wednesday, January 4, and was sworn in as a U.S. Congressman on January 5.

Riddick works at Bill Poole Realty, a commercial real estate brokerage firm. He has more than 25 years of sales experience in real estate, computer and industrial supply industries.

Riddick is an ambassador for the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, President of the Huntsville Metro Kiwanis Club, President of Huntsville Youth Orchestra, member of the Association of County Commissioners of Alabama – Legislative Committee serving as Finance and Taxation Subcommittee Chair and past chair of the South Huntsville Civic Association's political action committee. He previously served eight years on the Madison County Republican Executive Committee.

Riddick and his wife, Rebecca, have one son, Steven, who is a senior at Grissom High School.

His father, Frank Riddick, is a former Madison County probate judge, former state legislator and former Huntsville city councilman.
